Assoc.-Prof. DI Dr. Peter Weinberger was appointed research group leader of the research group “Magneto- and Thermochemistry” on 01.10.2012.

After his diploma studies in technical chemistry and doctoral studies in technical sciences at the Vienna University of Technology, Prof. Weinberger completed his post-doc at the Vienna University of Technology. In 2010 Prof. Weinberger habilitated in the field of “Inorganic Chemistry”; in 2012 he was appointed Research Group Leader “Magneto- and Thermochemistry” at the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry; in 2019 he took over the tenure track professorship “Magneto- and Thermochemistry” and was appointed Assistant Professor, in 2021 he was appointed Associate Professor for “Magneto- and Thermochemistry”.

Research interests:

In research, Prof. Weinberger's interests lie in the coordination chemistry of magnetically interesting transition metal complexes that exhibit the spin-crossover phenomenon, as well as in rare earth complexes. In thermochemistry, he is interested in the development and interdisciplinary optimization of thermochemical energy storage materials at the interface to process engineering and mechanical engineering.
