Note on the courses to be completed in the group “Free Electives and Transferable Skills” of the Bachelor's curriculum
At the beginning of the 2017 winter semester, a general regulation came into force at TU Wien, according to which all graduates who started their Bachelor's degree in Technical Chemistry this semester or later must complete a course worth 3 ECTS on the topic of “Technology for People” during their studies. This course must cover the topics of technology assessment, the genesis of technology, the history of technology, scientific ethics, gender mainstreaming and diversity management.
In the curriculum for Technical Chemistry, this has been implemented in such a way that this must take place as part of a transferable skills course prescribed by the statutes and the course “Chemistry and Society” is recommended to fulfill this criterion.
Other courses that are suitable for fulfilling the criterion would be all courses that are assigned to the topics “Technology and People” and “Gender Awareness” in the Transferable Skills Catalog and also the lecture “Ecological and Social Aspects of Chemistry”.Die Regelung gilt nicht für Studierende, die vor dem Wintersemester 2017 mit dem Bachelorstudium Technische Chemie begonnen haben.
