Get your conference attandance supported!

The faculty of Technical Chemistry at TU Wien is awarding travel grants to support young female researchers. The goal of this financial support is to increase the participation rate of young female researchers of our faculty at scientific conferences and workshops!

Support your research with

  • up to 300,00 € for national or online event
  • up to 600,00 € for event inside Europe
  • up to 1.200,00 € for events outside Europe

The specified values are guide values for oral presentations. The granted amount for poster presentations is adjusted accordingly.

The financial support is granted after ALL original receipts (travel costs/ conference fee) ARE SUBMITTED.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a diploma, master or PhD program associated with the Faculty of Technical Chemistry OR
  • Scientific staff member of Faculty of Technical Chemistry with PhD finished no longer than 2 years ago
  • Confirmation of an active contribution (talk or poster) within a scientific conference, workshop or summer school
  • Scientific topic needs to be associated with the Faculty of Technical Chemistry

Application documents

  • Application form + motivation letter (completed accurately and signed by the applicant and her supervisor)
  • Academic curriculum vitae (CV) and publication list
  • Diploma students and PhD students need to include their certificate of inscription
  • For a workshop: Invitation + confirmation of participation + scientific abstract
  • For conferences and summer schools: Confirmation of a contribution (talk or poster) + abstract
  • Any other financial support from a third-party (e.g. government department, EU, FWF, FFG, TU Wien funding), relating to the intended conference or workshop attendance needs to be declared within the application form (funding agency, duration, amount, type of funding).

Evaluation Procedure

Award decisions are made and announced every three month. The committee consists of four members of the FemChem initiative (each member represents one of the four institutes), the dean and one selected member of the Committee on Equal Treatment (Arbeitskreis für Gleichbehandlungsfragen, AKG). There is no recourse to legal action. The committees’ decision is final.

Appropriate Use

The applicant confirms by submitting the application form that all the information within the form are correct. Furthermore, only the applicant can be held responsible for any false information that is submitted or any misusage of the granted financial support. By signing the application form, the applicant agrees with the declaration of liability.

In case of any violation regarding the funding conditions, the applicant is obligated to refund the total amount of the adjudged financial support.

Internal Accounting

All original receipts need to be submitted (at latest four weeks after the return from the conference, workshop) to the dean’s office. In addition to that, the applicant agrees by signing the application form to write a short report (one A4 page) regarding the attendance (personal impressions, feedback, scientific impact on her research, etc.). The dean’s office as well as the FemChem Initiative are allowed to publish this report online or in a newsletter!
