Site visit: PSA Peugeot Citroën Slovakia in Trnava

PSA Citroen Trnava

On Thursday April 20, 2017 the eight study group of two-year combined international program Professional MBA Automotive Industry 2016 – 2018, established as cooperation of two renowned Central European technical universities TU Wien and STU Bratislava, has visited PSA Peugeot Citroën Slovakia in Trnava.

The plant in Trnava is one of the most technologically advanced of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group. Since the investment decision to build new plant in 2003, the French concern, which is the second largest automaker in Europe, has already invested more than one billion euros. Nearly 4,200 employees work in direct jobs in PSA Peugeot Citroën plant in Trnava producing Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3 Picasso, as well as successfully launched new Citroën C3. In 2016, up to 315,050 vehicles were produced, which is new maximum of Trnava plant, while line tact is 1 minute, which equals 60 cars per hour leaving the line. With regards to environmental protection, the plant has not exported a kilogram of waste to the landfill since June 2012 and the water-borne paints applied by an ecologically efficient system are used in paint shop.

The visit organized as a part of module “Communication Skills and Social Competence” at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava for the program participants of different countries of Europe and world started with team lunch and welcoming by DI Peter Švec, the Director of Communications in PSA Peugeot Citroën Slovakia. He presented the basic characteristics of the concern globally and Trnava plant as well as the vision of the group to become European leader in the segment of small vehicles. Subsequently, complete final assembly was shown to participants with particular attention being paid to quality control on the line exit. Accompanied by Mr. DI Maroš Priehoda, the Quality Manager, participants visited several departments of quality control, where the processes and systems used to detect the inaccuracies were being explained to them. Afterwards, Mr. Švec accompanied the participants along the assembly line of the vehicles and aggregate assembly. He remarked that following investment to Trnava plant will be combustion engines production and assembly. Finally, in the biggest PSA auditorium DI Švec answered and completed some of the topics of participants´ interest in an open discussion.

Program management thanked to PSA Peugeot Citroën Slovakia representatives for excellent visit organization.

Excursions, onsite lectures and discussions are integral part of the program that links theory and practice and brings the participant opportunities to meet members of top and segments management of a wide variety of automotive and supplier industry plants of international importance. Particularly, as the evening discussions with experts „Business Evenings“ are organized.
