PhD students mobility
Grants for PhD students
Grant programmes of TU Wien:
- > Funding for PhD students participating in conferences
- > Short-term grant for diploma and PhD theses and specialist courses abroad
Erasmus+ programme:
Erasmus+ also promotes the mobility of doctoral students. In addition to the Erasmus grants for Erasmus Studies and Erasmus Traineeships supporting stays between 2 and 12 months, there is - especially for doctoral students - the possibility of funded short-term stays with a duration from 5 to 30 days supported by Erasmus+ Short-Term Mobility:
How do I become an Erasmus+ PhD Short-Term Mobility Exchange Student?
The prerequisite is an Erasmus+ Agreement (IIA) in the respective field.
First, please check whether your intended host university already has an IIA with TU Wien in the field of your interest. Erasmus+ partner universities of TUW (as of: 2023/24), opens in new window.
Then apply in TISS Mobility Services, opens an external URL in a new window for the grant under the category “Other” (NOT under Erasmus, as this category covers long-term stays). Upload the following documents: CV, transcript of records, motivation letter + confirmation from the host institution (who invites you to the research stay and for how long).
The application should be submitted at least 1 month before your departure!
Attention: There is no legal entitlement to the grant. The award depends on the amount of the TUW's annual Erasmus+ budget for student and staff mobility.
If your intended host university is not a partner university of TUW, a short-term mobility is not possible.
