Innovative Research and exciting Teaching

Our institute at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Wien has a strong research base and trains the highly qualified specialists of tomorrow through various degree programs. Our research focuses on the areas of "Systems on Chip", "Software-Intensive Systems" and "Autonomous Systems". We focus on exciting and forward-looking technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automated driving and cyber security. We carry out contract research for industry.
Most of the research projects we initiate are funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and EU funding. We also have strong links with industry and carry out contract research for them.

Between 50 and 70 people are employed at our institute, depending on the order situation. They work in modern, well-equipped facilities, the centerpieces of which are the microcomputer laboratory and measurement laboratory. In addition, a modern laboratory for autonomous systems is currently under construction. Studying at ICT is exciting, varied and definitely not boring. Here, you gain insights into innovative companies and learn how to help shape the future with key technologies - including excellent job prospects at our institute and at renowned international companies. The proof of our attractive teaching and high training quality: the repeated victory at the Best Teaching Awards and the Best Distance Lecture award for the best possible corona-compliant teaching. We are particularly proud of these titles, as they were nominated and voted for by our students.

At the Institute of Computer Technology, we are passionate about research and education in the field of embedded systems, cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things. This includes topics such as embedded machine learning with deep neural networks, safety and security and smart energy systems. Our passionate employees achieve outstanding results in teaching, as demonstrated by several Best Teaching Awards, and in research, where we are at the forefront of development in numerous national and European projects.
