At the Institute of Computer Engineering, we are passionate about research and education in the field of Embedded Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Internet of Things. This includes topics such as Embedded Machine Learning with Deep Neural Networks, Safety and Security, and Smart Energy Systems. Our dedicated staff excels in teaching, as evidenced by several Best Teaching Awards, and in research, where we collaborate at the forefront of development in numerous national and European projects.

Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Axel Jantsch

Head of the Research Unit Systems on Chips

The research area of Systems on Chip deals with Integrated Circuits, architecture, and design methods for Systems on Chip and Embedded Systems. An important focus lies in the field of machine learning in embedded systems to address the challenges of dealing with limited resources. Another crucial research field in SoC is the integration of various sensors and actuators on a chip. This enables the development of intelligent, autonomous systems capable of recognizing their environment and responding accordingly. Research in this area not only contributes to the advancement of embedded systems but also enables the emergence of new applications and services that enhance our daily lives and can revolutionize the way we interact with technology.
