1973: Founded as the "Institut für Datenverarbeitung" under the direction of Prof. Richard Eier
1984: The curriculum includes training in microcomputer technology for the first time
1992: The "Computertechnik" major becomes part of the curriculum
1992: Renamed „Institut für Computertechnik“
1999: Prof. Dietmar Dietrich becomes head of the institute
2001: Further expansion of programming training
2014: Prof. Hermann Kaindl becomes head of the institute
