Aware of current challenges and driven by curiosity, we investigate how navigation technology can enhance positioning, environmental monitoring, and new space applications. In our work, we value thoroughness, collaboration, and openness to find sustainable solutions. Through our partnerships in academia and industry, we aim to expand the possibilities of navigation systems. By integrating research and practice, we offer future scientists and engineers in the geodesy and geoinformation study programs optimal conditions for the implementation of new navigation concepts to support sustainable development.

Areas of application in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • Natural Disaster Monitoring – Developing monitoring concepts for (near) real-time change detection and mapping (SDG 1, 3, 13).
  • Precision Agriculture & Environmental Monitoring – Use of GNSS reflectometry to assess land surface properties (SDG 2).
  • Infrastructure Monitoring – Enhancing infrastructure monitoring, surveying and mobile mapping by satellite navigation systems and their integration with other observation techniques (SDG 9).
  • New Space Activities – Exploring innovative navigation concepts for space missions and nanosatellite applications (SDG 9).
  • Affordable Surveying & Navigation – Advancing low-cost navigation technology to support sustainable development (SDG 11).
