Digital Design and Planning

Research into digital technologies such as BIM, computational design and XR for the sustainable planning and optimization of the built environment.

As a member of the GCD - Center for Geometry and Computational Design at TU Wien - we achieve interdisciplinary cutting-edge research with the faculties of Computer Science, Mathematics, Architecture and Civil Engineering to generate new knowledge about future design processes and to develop new customized digital design tools.

The FWF special research program: “Advanced Computational Design” has given us international visibility in the basic research of digital design.

Research led teaching

In the Integrated BIM Design Lab, we work with students of architecture and civil engineering to explore the interactions between people, processes and technology, particularly in conjunction with BIM tools. Integrated BIM Design Lab teams are regularly among the winners of the VDI Integral Planning competition.
