Lively internationality and global network

As an internationally renowned university in the field of engineering and natural sciences, TU Wien cooperates on a global level with a large number of suitable universities and institutions and actively promotes and maintains institutional partnership agreements with excellent universities for mutual benefit.

The aim is to actively shape a global cooperation network in order to create ideal conditions for researchers, teachers and students and to promote mobility.

Internationalization also promotes the global visibility of TU Wien and contributes to its international reputation.

International university partnerships are evaluated or newly concluded according to strategic aspects. Successful partnerships are deepened and expanded on an interfaculty or multilateral basis. New partnerships are explicitly geared towards the benefits for researchers, teaching staff and students and the entire organization according to a bottom-up approach.

Evaluation and conclusions are oriented towards the central goal of qualitative deepening and the definition of regional and subject-specific focal points.

The strategic orientation is based on criteria of quality and excellence:

  •   The active pursuit of university and faculty cooperation with top international universities according to criteria of excellence and quality in teaching and research.
  • The continuation of existing and the conclusion of new university partnerships is based on the goal of benefit for TU Wien, interfaculty or multilateral deepening as well as subject-specific, thematic and/or geographical focus.
  • The implementation of a faculty-integrative bottom-up approach: The faculties actively participate in defined internationalization goals. Where existing research collaborations involve at least two faculties, the development of institutionalized partnerships can begin.
