  • The IFM at TU Wien offers you the unique opportunity to take part in the ME310 “Design thinking” course at Stanford university for one year. This course was set up by Larry Leifer the inventor of “design thinking”. Two visits to Stanford University are planned for this purpose.
  • In addition to enlarge your industry network as the industry liaison of the project is   Burghauptmannschaft and Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft. 
  • The possibility to apply is open from now till May. After you have been selected, you will work for the next year on an industry challenge in the area of sustainability in Real Estate. To find innovative approaches the design thinking methodology will be applied. To learn and apply this methodology you will attend the ME310 design thinking course in Stanford.
  • The following timeline shows the different steps you will undergo in this course.

The image shows the project process of the Stanford partner program within one year.

During this year you select your Master thesis in one of the topics that was evaluated in the project.

 

                                                         Topic focus

The topics are specified annually by Austrian Real Estate companies. These topics focus on the area of ​​“sustainability and the environment”. Using the methodology of "Design Thinking", participants will learn how they can put their knowledge into practice.

In the last year the following topics were covered:

 

•   ESG and Wellbeing -  How can we bridge energy saving and well being of emlpoyees?

• ESG in practice – how can we use innovative measurement technology to reduce the implementation costs of ESG.

•   Living of the future. How will we live in 5-10 years?

•  Automatic energy optimization using AI and statistics.

 

                                                     Assumption of costs

As part of this program, the institute covers the tuition costs and travel costs of the students. In this regard, two visits to Stanford University are planned. However, a large portion of your work will be done in Vienna.

 

                                           Graduation with a Stanford certificate

At the end of the program, participants receive a Stanford certificate after completing their project within the partner program of Stanford University and submitting their master's thesis at TU Wien.

This will make Stanford a permanent part of your resume. This might be extremely advantageous after graduation, as Stanford University has an international reputation as a renowned and demanding university.

Civil engineers and regional planners are preferred for this program.

You must be a master's student to take part in this program.
