FWF Project P 35428-N: Random surfaces: growth, fluctuations and universality
Project leader: Fabio Toninelli, opens an external URL in a new window
The central theme of this FWF, opens an external URL in a new window funded project is the understanding of the large-scale behavior of random surfaces. Two major innovative aspects are:
- the focus on (2+1)-dimensional (as opposed to: (1+1)-dimensional) stochastic growth, which is to date to a large extent unexplored;
- the search for robust mathematical methods and results that go beyond exactly solvable models
We work on two main interconnected directions:
- super-diffusivity phenomena for (2+1)-dimensional stochastic growth
- universality of fluctuations for two-dimensional random surface, beyond the exactly solvable setting
