Work package 2: Definition of future scenarios and model calculations

Description

Based on the data compiled in Work package 1, various scenarios of a potential competitive or complementary situation of the shopping centre and the shopping street are defined
With the help of computer-aided model calculations, the current and future purchasing power and traffic flows are calculated.
- The starting point for the calculation of traffic flows is an apportionment model available at the Institute of Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering (VISUM, by the German company ptv®).
- Based on the statistical analysis of the data from work package 1, a simple model for the calculation of purchasing power flows is created using the System Dynamics software Vensim®.
The purchasing power and traffic flows calculated with this model system are visualised using
Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
