Sampling and Sample Preparation

The investigation of heterogeneous material flows or materials often requires extensive sampling, which we plan and carry out ourselves for our specific questions, frequently far from applicable standards. To generate representative analytical samples, we conduct elaborate sample preparation or develop it specifically for each question. For this purpose, we have various sample preparation units (including different mills and splitting devices).

To isolate the desired elements from a variety of matrices for measurement, we utilize various digestion technologies and have developed significant expertise in this area.

Sample Species and Experiences

Common sample species that have been extensively characterized in multiple projects include:

- Biogenic materials such as sewage sludge, plant material, wood, biochar
- Various mineral fractions, such as construction waste or geogenic materials, metals, electronic devices, plastics, substitute fuels
- Particularly residues from waste incineration, such as bottom ash, fly ash, and materials from mono-combustion (specifically sewage sludge ash)
