The seminar 280.B24 ‘Focus on spatial planning - activating vacant space for temporary use’ sets a practical, methodical focus. In an existing district in Vienna, the uses and vacancies of ground floor spaces were surveyed and analysed, visions for the future were created and steps were taken to (temporarily) activate selected vacancies. Students learnt about survey methods, how to establish contact with local stakeholders and property owners and how to fundamentally design the (temporary) use of vacant spaces.

Thanks to the cooperation with Kreative Räume Wien and the City of Vienna, a variety of perspectives were introduced and practical and methodological knowledge was imparted.
