The TU Wien Senate elections will take place on 27 May 2025. The Senate is one of the central bodies of the university management. All eligible members of the university are called upon to actively participate in shaping the future of TU Wien by casting their votes.

The role of the Senate

The Senate is one of the central governing bodies of TU Wien - alongside the Rectorate and the University Council. It is made up of representatives of academic staff, general university staff and students.

The main tasks of the Senate include

  • electing the Rectorate and participating in its appointment,
  • defining and amending the university's statutes
  • the co-design of curricula and the establishment or discontinuation of study programmes,
  • appointments to important committees and commissions, e.g. for professorial appointments.

Through its decisions, the Senate plays a decisive role in shaping the framework conditions for teaching, research and administration at TU Wien.

Why your participation is important

A high A high voter turnout strengthens democratic co-determination and ensures that the Senate remains representative of the university community. Your vote carries weight - and contributes to the further development of TU Wien in the interests of all university members. The term of office runs from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2028.

  • until 26 May: Pick up the absentee ballot (postal vote)
  • by 27 May: Voting card (postal vote) submitted (received by post or handed in directly at the polling station)
