The project series techArt: Art and Science in Dialogue was founded in 2019 by Anna Pimenov and Andrei Pimenov at the TU Wien. Since then, it has regularly brought together artists and scientists interested in art and created a space for encounters, exchange and new perspectives.

The first project was launched in November 2019 under the title techArt: Art in the Laboratory with the artist Ivan Chemakin from Saint Petersburg.

This was followed in October 2021 by techArt: Karlsplatz anders. The two artists Irina Roon (St. Petersburg) and Tinatin Chkhikvishvili (Tbilisi) showed Karlsplatz from very different perspectives.

In 2023, the techArt project: Old Art - New Science took place with the Georgian artists and sisters Tutu Kiladze and Tsisia Kiladze. The workshops of the artists and the laboratories of the scientists were considered.

More than 50 original artworks by Chien Yu Lin (Taipei, Vienna) and Asya Marakulina (St. Petersburg, Vienna) were created as part of the techArt project Beyond Materials (March 2025). Inspired by the ancient four-element theory and current scientific concepts, an exciting dialog about materials, the environment and change developed.
