FAQ on the use of Eurostat microdata

Microdata is the data from which aggregate statistics are compiled. Microdata consists of sets of records containing information on individual respondents or business entities. Access to microdata is restricted to protect the anonymity of respondents (persons, organisations).

TU Wien is a recognised research entity. This allows researchers of TU Wien to apply for access to Eurostat microdata by submitting a research proposal via the Eurostat Microdata Access Portal, opens an external URL in a new window

The research entity number of TU Wien is 2014/049/AT, and the Eurostat contact person at TU Wien is Barbara Sánchez Solís. According to Eurostat, the approval procedure takes around eight weeks.

Access to microdata is only valid for the period specified in the research proposal. At the end of that period, you must destroy any original scientific-use files sent by Eurostat and any confidential data derived from the files and send Eurostat your research results.
