General Information

Non-Degree Program means that students will stay enrolled at the home university (TU Wien) and only complete parts of their education or research at the host university in Japan. Depending on the program, credits will be awarded by the host university which can be converted to ECTS credits and may be accepted by the dean of studies as equivalent to regular or elective courses. However, the final degree (MSc, PhD) will be awarded by the home university (TU Wien).

As the conversion of credits may be difficult and only a limited number of courses will be available in English language, candidates with a research focus will be preferred. The research in Japan will be in most cases related to Master- or Doctor Thesis.

To apply for one of the listed scholarships, the applicants must be officially enrolled at TU Wien for at least 2 years and provide a consolidated grade record with an average grade of 2.5 or better. As the available number of outgoing students is limited, Master or PhD students are preferred. Application Deadlines and Modalities

Generally, there are two application deadlines. The TU Wien internal application deadline and the nomination and application deadlines at the Japanese host university.

Application deadline at TU Wien via TISS Mobility Services:
Apply by October 15 for for a start in the summer semester (March/April);
apply by March 15 for a start in the winter semester (October).

Application deadline at the Japanese host university:
The deadlines at the host universities vary and may end sooner than the internal deadlines at TU Wien. Therefore we strongly recommend to contact the JASEC team already at an early stage of the process. During a personal appointment we can explain the details of the application process.
