Full Title: European Universities Linking Society and Technology

Duration: November 1, 2023 - October 31, 2027

Summary: Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) is a member of the EULiST Alliance (European Universities Linking Society and Technology). The EULiST Alliance was established to support long-term collaboration in the areas of education, research, innovation, and service to society. EULiST is one of fifty universities participating in the European Universities Initiative.

In the fall of 2023, Vienna University of Technology, along with nine other EULiST universities, began a long-term collaboration with the goal of founding a new European university. The cooperation project is funded for four years with a total of 14 million euros. Activities officially commenced on November 1, 2023.

Collaboration within EULiST offers students and staff new opportunities to network with colleagues from across Europe, share best practices, and collaborate on a variety of educational, research, and social initiatives.

The research unit supports the project by leading Task Group 3.1 "Flexible Education Activities" as part of the Work Package "Teaching and Learning." The goal of this task group is to create a unified list of offerings from all partner universities, focusing on sustainability, technology, and society, which is accessible to all students. These offerings include, for example, courses, summer schools, joint/double degrees, blended intensive programs (BIP), micro-degrees, and massive open online courses (MOOCs).

Results:

  • Achieve a new quality of European exchange
  • Serve as a model for networking, digitalization, sustainability, and social integration
  • Educate a new generation of European graduates who study and live in various countries and languages
