Welcome to the dynamic mechanics ...

The research unit of mechanics and structural dynamics deals in research and teaching with the preparation of analytical, numerical and experimental methods for the mechanical modelling of building structures and their static and dynamic stress, deformation and stability behaviour. Teaching tasks include the compulsory courses in technical mechanics of solid and fluid bodies for the civil engineering field of study.

The research unit has a laboratory with modern experimental equipment for vibration measurements on small-scale structural models and on existing building objects. In addition to general problems of applied mechanics, research work is carried out in particular in the sub-areas of building dynamics (e.g. vibration damping of slender high-rise buildings and bridge structures) and thermal stresses. The objectives of the main research areas are oriented to industrial requirements, among other things.
