Last week, our colleague Daniel C. Rosenfeld attended an engaging workshop in Munich on carbon capture and storage (CCS) in waste incineration plants, organized by the Sustainable Industrial Society Foundation. The discussions covered both the potential benefits and the problems of CCS, with no clear consensus reached on its role in a sustainable future. Also Alternatives to CCS, such as circular economy in connection with sufficiency and degrowth strategies, were explored, highlighting the breadth of the conversation.
