About Iva Kovacic

Iva Kovacic is Professor of Integrated Planning and Head of the Institute of Building and Industrial Construction at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at TU Wien.


Iva Kovacic was born in 1973 in Zagreb, Croatia
From 1991 to 1998 she studied architecture at the TU Vienna.
She has practiced as an architect in Vienna, Michigan, USA and Munich and is a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects.
In 2002 she has joined  TU Wien, where she completed her doctorate in 2005; and habilitated in the research field of Integral Planning in 2016.

 

Iva's research focus is Building Information Modeling and Digital Design, as well as Digital Platforms for Circular Economy with Material Building Passports.Together with her research team, she leads and researches in numerous national and international research projects such as BIMmaterial, SCI_BIM, BIMstocks, Circular Twin, Wohnen 4.0 and others, as well as in FWF Special Research Area Advanced Digital Design.Iva is Principal Investigator and member of GCD - Center for Computational Design, TU Wien; and teaches at the University of Stuttgart, University of Zagreb and Jönkoping University.

She acts as International Liaison and Board Member of European Group for Intelligent Computing eg-ice. She is also a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Scientific Board Member ASCE Computing Division ExCOM; and member of ÖGNI, as well as ÖGNI Auditor.

Iva is member of Senate of TU Wien, and spokesperson of the Professors in Senate.
