Daniele Karasz holds a PHD in Social Anthropology. He works on housing, urban development and migration, both in academic and applied research. Daniele Karasz studied at the University of Vienna and at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is Associated Researcher at the LAA (Laboratoire Architecture Anthropologie), opens an external URL in a new window at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris La Villette (LAVUE) and he was researcher and teaches at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Vienna, opens an external URL in a new window. At the Research Unit Sociology of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning at TU Wien he coordinates the EU-funded project “EXIT – Exploring Sustainable Strategies to Counteract Territorial Inequalities from an Intersectional Approach”. His current foci of teaching are territorial inequality, poverty, migration, social housing, and qualitative research methods. Daniele Karasz has coordinated numerous research projects and was part of interdisciplinary teams planning as well as realizing subsidized housing estates in Vienna.
