Together with architecture students, we went on an exciting excursion to the Lower Austrian towns of Kirchberg am Wagram, Großriedenthal, Groß Weikersdorf and Absdorf on March 12, 2025.

On the way, we met regional manager Monika Heindl, manager of the climate and energy model region, Stefan Czamutzian, and several mayors, who told us about current projects for vacancy activation, residential buildings, energy communities, center upgrading and much more.

The students will present their interim results on all of these topics at the beginning of May, and the research project will be launched at the same time - we will continue to report!

Shaping Synergies is a project of the research unit Building Construction and Design 1 that combines the principles of research-led teaching and teaching-led research. The support of our colleagues Sibylla Zech, Hartmut Dumke and Daniel Youssef with inputs on regional planning, public services and spatial energy planning will promote the interdisciplinarity of the project.
