As part of SCALINGS, the Research Unit of Law is an associated partner of Iris Eisenberger and her team at the Institute for Public Law and Political Science, University of Graz. Together the collaboration explores questions surrounding the public procurement of innovation as well as co-creation and intellectual property.

A focus lies on probing whether on the basis of current law, public procurement can be harnessed as a demand-side policy instrument for promoting innovation. In relation to co-creation and intellectual property, the main point of interest is the influence of legal provisions on intellectual property and data ownership as well as data access on co-creation in so-called co-creation facilities ("CCF"). CCF are virtual or physical facilities in which different actors (e.g. scientists, companies, public bodies) come together to jointly create innovative solutions.
