How do you get as much information as possible to assess water quality and identify emission pathways for trace contaminants with a limited number of samples?
This new publication by Máté Krisztián Kardos et al. describes a monitoring approach developed and tested in seven pilot regions of the Danube River Basin within the interreg Danube Hazard m3c project co-led by Ottavia Zoboli and Matthias Zessner.
In addition to methodological lessons learned, the paper presents interesting insights into spatial gradients and patterns of contamination within the Danube basin, as well as relationships between concentrations of different contaminants and multiple factors.
