Endbericht zur Studie ReLaKAN

Nitrous oxide is the main contributor to greenhouse gas emissions at municipal wastewater treatment plants.
Within the ReLaKAN research project, funded by the Bundesministerium für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Regionen und Wasserwirtschaft and led by Dr. Vanessa Parravicini, a new concept to reduce nitrous oxide emissions in wastewater treatment plants with anaerobic sludge digestion was developed and investigated on a laboratory scale. The new concept is based on deammonification and the use of denitrifying bioscrubbers in the side-stream treatment line.
