As researchers from TUWien, we had the privilege of visiting several leading institutions in the UK that are at the forefront of research on the thermal performance of buildings.

Our journey began at Build Test Solutions, where Luke Smith gave us an insightful presentation on innovative in situ measurement techniques and thermal performance assessment. It was truly inspiring to see the cutting-edge solutions being developed in this field.

Thereafter, we visited the University of Salford’s Energy House Labs

where Grant Henshaw and David Farmer introduced us to their groundbreaking research on energy efficiency and sustainable construction. Their work is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this sector.

At the Leeds Sustainability Institute, we had the pleasure of meeting David Glew and his engaged and welcoming team. We explored the impressive work of

Citu and gained valuable insights into the institute’s pioneering research on in situ measurement techniques.

Our final stop was Loughborough University, where we had a fascinating and unfortunatly very short discussion with David Allinson. We delved into the concept of in situ measurement, its alignment with government regulations, and the future of thermal performance assessment.

We woukd like to extend a huge thanks to everyone involved for the insightful discussions! We look forward to potential future collaborations. Special thanks to Richard Jack for the recommendation – we hope to meet you in person soon!
