ORCID and your digital identity as a researcher *English*

Workshop

How can an ORCID iD effectively be used in different research settings and throughout a researcher’s career?

An ORCID iD distinguishes one researcher from another, giving them a unique identification. It is also a main component of a researcher's digital identity. This addresses the problem that a particular author's contributions or publications can be hard to recognize as most personal names are not unique, can change, or contain inconsistent use of first-name abbreviations due to different writing systems. An ORCID iD provides a persistent identity for researchers.

The main topics that will be covered in this webinar are:

  • How can an ORCID iD effectively be used in different research settings and throughout a researcher’s career?
  • Creation and use of an ORCID iD
  • Curation/updating of your ORCID record (that is, the information connected with the ORCID iD)
  • ORCID-related services within TU Wien

This is a hands-on workshop, and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions related to ORCID iDs. It is not necessary to create an ORCID iD prior to the workshop.
