Silbernes Ehrenzeichen der Republik für Norbert Kreuzinger

Norbert Kreuzinger mit seinem Ehrenzeichen und Herr Pichl mit der Urkunde

Our dear colleague Norbert Kreuzinger has been honoured with the Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria (Silbernes Ehrenzeichen) by Elmar Pichl, Director General of Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung.
This highly prestigious national decoration rightly recognises the important and pioneering role that Norbert has played over the past 30 years in establishing and advancing many scientific fields related to water quality management and, more broadly, environmental protection in Austria. He is the leading national expert on advanced wastewater treatment and water reuse technologies and was one of the initiators and pioneers of the research on antibiotic resistance in water systems and of the implementation of wastewater-based epidemiological surveillance in the country.
Through his active networking, he has ensured a continuous exchange at the highest level across disciplines and national borders and has increased the visibility and role of Austrian institutions in Europe and beyond.
As social relevance and real impact are Norbert’s main drivers, he also plays a leading role in the training of wastewater treatment plant operators and in supporting the water sector with his diverse knowledge and expertise.
Last but not least, he is a very passionate and dedicated lecturer and mentor to students and young water professionals, and also finds time to be involved in several social volunteer activities in his hometown.
This short post cannot do justice to Norbert’s multi-faceted and impressive commitment, track record and impact. We feel very privileged and fortunate to work closely with him and to be constantly inspired and motivated by his visionary attitude and his boundless energy.
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
