Jürgen Fleig completed the research work for his doctorate in the Department of Physical Solid State Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart and continued to conduct research there after his doctorate (1995) (interrupted by a research stay at MIT, Cambridge, USA, 2002-2003). In 2002 he habilitated in physical chemistry at the University of Ulm. In 2005 he accepted a professorship for "Technical Electrochemistry" at the TU Wien. Since 2019 he has also been the head of the Institute for Chemical Technologies and Analytics.
