Portrait G. Rupprechter

After completing his diploma in chemistry and doctoral studies in technical sciences at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck, he stayed as postdoc in the USA (University of California at Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory). From 1999 to 2005, Prof. Rupprechter headed the "Laser Spectroscopy and Catalysis" research group at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. In 2005, Prof. Rupprechter habilitated at the TU Berlin for the subject "Physical Chemistry (Physical Chemistry)". In the same year he accepted the call for the professorship "Surface and Interface Chemistry" at the TU Wien. Prof. Rupprechter's research interests lie in the "interface" of surface science and applied heterogeneous catalysis, in particular operando investigations of ongoing catalytic reactions using spectroscopy and microscopy, often at synchrotron radiation sources.
