VADOR Events Calendar

We frequently host one off lectures on topics relating to variational analysis, dynamics and operations research.  In term-time, we host different speakers at our weekly AKOR seminar.  Seminars take place most Thursdays at 3pm in Sem. R. DB gelb 04 Once a month, the AKOR seminar will be replaced by the Vienna Seminar on Optimization, opens an external URL in a new window - a joint venture with Radu Bot and Yurii Malitskyi of the University of Vienna

We organise the Viennese Conference on Optimal Control and Dynamic Games, typically every three years.  The next iteration - VC2025 - will take place in July 2025.  For further details on this conference, and its forerunners, please visit the VC2025, opens an external URL in a new window website.

Topics and speakers for all forthcoming events will be posted below.

4th Austrian Calculus of Variations Day

Conference

The Austrian Calculus of Variations Day, already at its fourth edition, is an informal workshop, aiming at giving an overview on current research on calculus of variations and optimization in Austria. Participants from all Austrian research institutions are welcome to present recent and new results, even not yet published.

A few, but strict, rules apply to all contributed talks, distinguishing this workshop from existing events in the field, namely:

  • Speakers at ACVD are volunteers from the audience. Provided that they are present throughout the meeting, all participants are invited to talk.

  • Based on the number of speakers, the time available will be divided into slots for the contributed talks, all of the same length. The order of the speakers will be determined through random choice, by drawing names out of a hat. Speakers cannot request a specific time to talk.

  • Bring your presentation as a PDF file on a USB-stick.

  • Speakers should introduce themselves, as well as the title and topic, and are expected to leave sufficient time, within their allocated time-slot, for discussion.

Speakers have to prepare a talk that can be trimmed to various lengths (from seconds to 20 minutes).

For a smooth meeting, the timetable will be strictly enforced.
