As part of the lecture Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics (Bachelor's degree), an excursion to a construction site in Vienna took place at the end of the semester.

At the invitation of the company Keller Grundbau, a large group of interested students visited the Triiiple construction site in Vienna's third district. Over the next few years, three residential buildings, each over 100 metres high, will be built here. At the time of the excursion, the excavation pit enclosure was made and the dewatering system was prepared.

After a short introduction by Dipl.-Ing. Michael Flor in the construction container, the construction site was visited with a wide variety of geotechnically exciting aspects.

The large group of students was divided into two smaller groups and accompanied through the construction site by Dipl.-Ing. Michael Flor and Manuel Glanner, who explained the work steps in detail at various locations and answered questions from the students.

The production of anchors for excavation pit stabilization from sheet pile walls and dissolved bored pile walls with DSV gussets was in full swing, as was the application of the jet blasting process for the production of a collector. In addition, wells were shown, which were already made, but not yet in operation.

During the course of the day, the students gained a very interesting insight into the implementation of various construction measures, especially in connection with the various geotechnical aspects.

A big thank you goes to Keller Grundbau for making the site visit possible and carrying it out.
