Excursion Semmering base tunnel

As part of the lecture Rock and Tunnel Construction, interested students visited the current construction activities around the Simmering Base Tunnel.

The preparatory work for the Longsgraben landfill and the construction of various construction roads were inspected on site. The focus of the inspection was on the up to 25 m high structures made of reinforced earth and numerous slope stabilizations. Furthermore, the complex interplay of legal basics, construction management aspects and geotechnical aspects was explained to the students using various examples.
