Workshop at Saga University / Kyushu, February 13-24, 2023
The workshop will be organized by Prof. Nobuo MISHIMA from Saga University in Kyushu/Japan for students of architecture and urban planning. Prof. Mishima, opens an external URL in a new window is an architect and urban planner, who has been working in the field of “machizukuri” (= “town making” - revitalization of urban spaces and buildings with citizen participation) for more than 20 years.
The workshop will take place from February 13 to 24th at Saga university, including excursions to Hizenhama-shuku, opens an external URL in a new window, a historic coastal town with heritage protected areas consisting of traditional fishermen’s and merchants’ houses as well as sake breweries.
The task will be a small intervention in the form of a design project – either a revitalization of a historic building or of a small urban space.
Flight: (Vienna-Fukuoka): starting from ca. € 800 (to be organized individually)
Accommodation: at Saga university (about 2500-3000 Yen = €17-20/Night)
