The event, organized by the Institute for Construction Management and Building Economics at the Vienna University of Technology, took 35 participants to the world's largest trade fair for construction, building materials, and mining machinery.

BAUMA – the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles, and construction equipment – offered a comprehensive overview of current developments and innovations in the industry. More than 3,500 exhibitors from 57 countries presented their latest products and technologies on the 6.6 million sq ft (614,000 sq m) exhibition grounds.

This year's BAUMA 2025 focused in particular on automation, sustainability, and digital construction processes. Numerous manufacturers presented advanced solutions for increasing efficiency on construction sites, including autonomous construction vehicles, electrified drive systems, and digital construction site management tools. The exhibitors showcased innovative approaches to reducing CO₂ emissions through alternative drive systems, from electric and hybrid solutions to hydrogen technologies for heavy construction machinery. There was a particular focus on autonomous and electrically powered large machines and intelligent machine control systems that minimize resource consumption while increasing productivity.

Another item on the agenda was a visit to the Austrian company Doka, which presented its proven formwork and shoring systems as well as a prototype of an intelligently heated formwork system. The aim of this new development is to expand the range of applications for CO₂-reduced concrete mixes under difficult conditions, especially at low temperatures and with extended setting times.

The excursion offered TU Wien students a valuable opportunity to learn about current technical developments and future trends in the construction industry and to establish direct contacts with leading companies in the sector. In addition to the diverse range of exhibits on offer, the opportunity to exchange ideas with international experts and industry representatives was also put to good use.
