Excursion to Ternitz: Students Explore Territorial Inequality

In November, students visited Ternitz (Lower Austria) as part of the course Strategies for Sustainable and Resilient Spatial Development. The aim was to explore strategies to reduce territorial inequality in areas such as work, education, mobility, health, social cohesion, digitalization, and housing.

We engaged in insightful discussions with Caritas Urban Planning, received an exclusive tour of the urban development project in the Dreiersiedlung neighborhood, and conducted a joint interview with the director of the Phönix Ostarrichi institution. This institution was established after the closure of the steelworks to create new employment opportunities for the workers who had been laid off.

Additionally, students applied various fieldwork methods to focus on their individual research topics.

Excursion to Jennersdorf: Research on Territorial Strategies
In November, students traveled to Jennersdorf (Burgenland) as part of the course Strategies for Sustainable and Resilient Spatial Development. The focus was on territorial inequality and strategies in the areas of work, education, mobility, health, social cohesion, digitalization, and housing.

We conducted interviews with the head of the Women's Counseling Center, the head of the local second-hand shop, and the head of the youth center. These conversations provided valuable insights into the diverse challenges in Jennersdorf and strategies already implemented locally.

Students also utilized different research methods to work on their individual topics.
