Things you should consider when writing an Academic Work – A TUWEL-course

The TUWEL course “Things you should consider when writing an Academic Work” is a self-study course and serves as an introduction to topics to be considered when writing a paper. The choice of topics is general and wide-ranging – without “cherry-picking”. Please note: The course language is English only!

Course topics

The following topics are covered in this course:

  • Accessibility in documents
  • Gender-sensitive language
  • Diversity in images
  • Integrity in research
  • Principles of good research
  • Good research practices
  • Misconduct in research
  • Plagiarism (and how to avoid it)

 

Course structure

Each topic of the course is structured as follows:

  • Teaser
  • Text as a “Moodle book”
  • Summary video
  • Self-test

The workload for students is around ten to twenty minutes per topic (ECTS break-down: approx. 2 hours).
