AMoRE-AL project

Within the AMoRE-AL project, funded by the Austria Development Cooperation through the APPEAR programme, we are working together with the Agricultural University of Tirana on the development and application of the MoRE emission model for the Ishmi river basin in Albania. Now Vjola Bakillari, Fatos Huqi and Xhuljo Sema are staying at our institute for three weeks to implement the model supported by Steffen Kittlaus Meiqi Liu.
Moreover, this week we had an intensive project meeting organised by the project leader Universität für Bodenkultur Wien and hosted at TU Wien, followed by a field trip dedicated to online monitoring of water quality and hydrography. We visited the water quality online monitoring station of the Bundesministerium für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Regionen und Wasserwirtschaft at the Danube close to Wolfsthal, and observation sites of the hydrographic service of lower Austria for meteorologal parameters (Hollern), groundwater level and temperature and a river gauging station (Haslau/Leitha).
It was impressive to learn the details of the implementation of such online stations and to see the high level of expertise and effort needed for running such monitoring sites continuously to produce high quality data available to the public.
