Executive MBA Automotive Management Program visits Volkswagen Slovakia Plant in Bratislava

The Executive MBA Automotive Management Program of the TU Wien has special focuses on the production , logistics and digitalization in the automotive industry. It covers also the  sustainability which is getting more importance in the automotive industry. In order to see practical applications and implementations in the factory an excursion to Volkswagen Slovakia took place.

The Volkswagen plant in Bratislava is one of the largest and most advanced automotive plants in Europe, producing a diverse range of vehicles, in the past SUVs, e-Ups, and also city cars but currently they are producing the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Skoda Superb and other models.

Mr. Wolfram Kirchert, CEO of Volkswagen Slovakia welcomed students and introduced the plant and explained the current challenges and how Volkswagen Slovakia meet the challenges.

The plant tour consisted of plant tours in different shops and presentations of current topics such as the environmental protection and the digitalization. The plant tour started at the body shop which is with numerous robots highly automated. The high level automation has been improving the quality of the products. For the sustainability Volkswagen Slovakia has been giving efforts to reduce environmental effects such as minimizing water usage, reduce CO2 emission etc. Volkswagen Slovakia works closely with the local government and European Union to meet the environmental standards. Furthermore it helps to set the environmental regulations and initiatives. Volkswagen Slovakia is working on the digitalization of the manufacturing process as well as administration process.

During a Q&A session, Mr. Wolfram Kirchert addressed students' queries, providing deeper insights into the plant's operations and its strategic direction.

The Volkswagen plant in Bratislava strives to produce high-quality vehicles using advanced production technology and innovative logistics solutions. Its commitment to sustainability, digital transformation, continuous process improvement and the use of new technologies ensures that it remains at the forefront of the industry and adapts to new challenges and opportunities.
