On June 27, the 7th Best Teaching Awards were presented by the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs. In the ceremonial setting of the Kuppelsaal, particularly committed teachers and positively experienced lectures were honored.

After the opening by Rector Sabine Seidler, she led through the evening together with Kurt Matyas, Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching. Before the actual awards were presented, the individual nominees were introduced in more detail with comments from the students. For the first time this year, sign language interpreters were also present.

During the break, the guests were entertained by the dancing Pepper. Using technology developed at the TU Wien, Pepper is controlled by a so-called imitation system. This system allows the robot to perform the movements of Eva Maria Kraft, a dancer, in real time itself.

The Best Teacher Award was presented to dedicated teachers at the TU Vienna who have held lectures in the past academic year. The overall teaching performance and not a specific lecture of the teacher is decisive. Anneliese Kasper-Giebl (lecturer MSc Environmental Technology & International Affairs) was awarded the Best Teacher Award 2023 for the ACE.

Anne Kasper-Giebl has been Professor for Analytical Chemistry at the Insitute for Chemical Technologies and Analytics since 2003. Her main research interests are air chemistry, atmospheric aerosols and the development of analytical methods for gas and aerosol measurements in background regions.

She is a member of the Clean Air Commission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, chairs the Advisory Board for the Coordination of the Scientific Activities at the Sonnblick Observatory and is Austrian deputy of the Cost Action 633 (Particulate Matter and Properties related to Health Effects).

We warmly congratulate Anneliese Kasper-Giebl on this award.
