“Trends & Challenges” - A Business Evening with Dr. Tostmann, Professionam MBA Automotive Industry

Business Evening Dr. Tostmann, 2020

The second Professional MBA Automotive Industry program started successfully on March 11, 2010. Additional to the program lectures a business evening, “Trends and Challenges - From global challenges to brand building” with Dr.-Ing.h.c. Andreas Tostmann (Chairman of the Board Volkswagen Slovakia, a.s.), took place on July 9, 2010 at the Vienna University of Technology.

In his lecture Dr. Tostmann presented the current challenges facing the automotive industry and some of the solutions of Volkswagen to these challenges. The six Mega trends influencing the strategy of the automotive industry are Globalization, Individualism, Ageing, Urbanization, Technologies and Sustainability. In order to meet the challenge of urbanization, new car concepts are necessary. For example, in order to buy a car in Japan without a parking space certificate the size of the car should meet the regulation. Volkswagen developed a New Small Family car to belong to this category, which will be produced in Bratislava. As the summary Dr. Tostmann presented “BlueMotionTechnologies” to meet the megatrends “Technology” and “Sustainability”. These are challenges like increasing environmental awareness, shrinking resources and strict environmental regulations. With the integration of new innovations to the basic technologies, Volkswagen introduced BlueMotionTechnologies which represents one clear brand and one clear promise. From global challenges Volkswagen builds a brand BlueMotionTechnologies, which make a contribution to the CO2-reduction and the reduction of fuel consumption. These technologies are already available today.

H.E. Mexican Ambassador Alejandro Diaz was also among the audience of this exceptional event.

After an intensive discussion all participants could talk about the expertise and their opinions personally with Dr. Tostmann and broaden the network with participants from automotive industry related areas.

The next Professional MBA Automotive Industry starts on March 11, 2010.
