The first program point was the viewing of the Vertical Forest. A model for a sustainable residential building. A project for metropolitan reforestation that contributes to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity without the implication of expanding the city upon the territory.
Alumni of the MSc Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe continued the Technical Tour to the Unicredit Pavillon, which is a part of the Porta Nuova development. The project was approved in 2004 comprising a total surface of about 340,000 m² divided into 3 parts (Porta Nuova Garibaldi, Porta Nuova Varesine, Porta Nuova Isola)

Next stop was a pre-existing industrial building which was restored and converted between 1998 and 2004 to be the new headquarters of the Italian financial daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. Finally we visited the Bocconi University, where the heating system was explained to us in great detail.

In the afternoon the Immo Alumni were invited to the ERES Industry Seminar „Urban Regeneration and Development in low growth economies“. The seminar included presentations on the Italian economy and real estate market, the operation of area recovery strategies in Milan.

On October 24, 2015 all alumni were invited to the workshop “Renewable Energy & Green Buildings” in the VIP Lounge of the Austria Pavillons. We had the pleasure to welcome distinguished guest speakers:Prof. Marzia Morena, FRICS; Doris Wirth (Bluewaters Environmental Consultants), Prof. Reinhard Haas (TU Wien) und Amela Ajanovic (TU Wien).

The Austria Pavillon was very popular and counted over 2 million visitors between May 01 and Oct. 31, 2015. Further the Austria Pavillon was awarded for „Sustainable Architecture”.
After the Workshop participants took the chance to explore the Expo site, which comprised many architectural highlights of around 145 countries who presented their vision of the future of the planet.
