On 24 May, more than thirty interested female mathematicians took part in the ‘Paths in Maths’ event. The three speakers Patricia Daxbacher (from McKinsey), Esther Daus (from dfine) and Monika Ludwig (Professor at TU Wien) presented their personal career paths and reported on how they arrived at their respective professions, the challenges they faced, but also the enriching experiences they have had so far.
This was followed by discussions in smaller groups over snacks and drinks on the topic of careers: ‘How do I know whether science or industry?’, ‘How do I find a PhD position? ', What challenges do I have to expect in industry?’ …
The students had the opportunity to ask the three speakers further questions about their career path, but also to talk to other female students and employees from the Department of Mathematics at TU Wien.
