Research at ILSB

The research at ILSB is divided into the research areas Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics.

The current focus of the Lightweight Design Team is on non-linear modeling and simulation of materials and structures.

In Biomechanics the research focus is on computational and experimental characterization of the mechanics of biological tissues in health, during aging and disease and on synthetically analogous materials or material systems.

Biomechanics

The task of the research area biomechanics is the development and provision of methods and tools with which a mechanistic understanding of the mechanical properties of biological tissue can be gained.

Computational Biomechanics

The research area Computational Biomechanics conducts computer-aided research in the areas of prevention, treatment and aftercare of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. It is the connecting element between research institutions, clinics and companies.
