We are looking for a project assistant (pre-doc) in the field of “tire emissions”

03. June 2024
The Institute of Powertrains and Automotive Technology at TU Wien is hiring a project assistant (pre-doc) in the field of "tire emissions".

A set of summer wheels, tires and discs

In the “GreenTire” project, together with partners from industry and science, tire emissions of passenger cars are measured and analyzed in real driving conditions and on the test bench in order to gain a universal understanding of tire abrasion and tire particles and subsequently develop a transfer methodology (test bench – real driving) and an improved vehicle operating strategy. Among other activities, a tire particle measurement system for real-world driving will be developed based on existing measurement technology.

Your research activities include the further development of a measurement system for tire particles. 3D CFD simulation methods are also applied for this. In addition, the measurement system is used to measure tire emissions in real driving conditions and on the test bench and to develop a simulation model for the analysis of tire particle emissions. The results obtained will be published internationally and should enable a doctoral thesis.

Qualification profile:

  • Successfully completed Master’s or Diploma degree at a technical university; preferably mechanical engineering or physics (or thematically related).
  • Ideally, a specialization in the field of automotive/emission measurement technology.
  • Ideally experience with particle emission measurement
  • Commitment, ability to work independently but also willing to work in a team
  • Ability to think analytically and conceptually as well as quick comprehension and willingness to familiarize yourself with new issues.

Employment: Full-time, employment according to collective agreement.

In order to achieve a balanced gender ratio at the Institute of Powertrains and Automotive Technology, applications from women are particularly welcome.
