Subject of course
Systematics and design concepts of commercial and special purpose vehicles. Discussion about main components of commercial vehicles, e.g. frame, axes, springs, powerpack, cab, brakes, steering and driver support electronics.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- understand and explain the essential characteristics and functions of a commercial vehicle and its main assemblies (frame, cab, powertrain, axles, suspension systems, brakes, steering and driver assistance systems).
- describe the differences to the car in regard to heavy vehicles.
- describe the commercial vehicle-specific components in detail.
